Estimate prep
Prepare for your fence estimate.
A good fence starts before the first post goes in. These steps help the estimate go faster and reduce surprises.
Quick checklist
- Clear the fence line (toys, brush, furniture, planters).
- Mark sprinkler heads, invisible dog fence wire, and low-voltage lines.
- Think through gate needs (mowers, trailers, bins, side-yard access).
- Talk with neighbors if the fence is near a shared edge.
- Confirm property lines if the boundary is unclear.
- Review HOA rules if applicable.
- Plan for pets/kids during install day.
Utility marking and final measurements are handled separately. This checklist is estimate prep, not legal advice.

The fastest estimates start with photos and a rough layout. Use whichever tool is easiest on your device.
